| Workshop Globally Harmonized System |

Very important changes in Classification and Labeling are coming soon, as all around the world countries adopt the new Globally Harmonized System (GHS). This is an internationally agreed upon system set to replace the various different classification and labeling standards used in different countries. The legislation for the EC will be ratified upon towards the end of this year and for substances must be implemented by December 2010. |

| Akzo Nobel Technology & Engineering is organizing its first external edition of the Manufacturing Workshop 2008 on October 6 & 7. Goal of the workshop is starting a discussion about the preservation of the Dutch process industry. More and more activities of the process industry are transferred to or contracted out towards low-cost countries, increasing the risk of disappearance of the knowledge about these processes. |

REACH Services: What T&E can do for you |
| The Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH) is the European Community Regulation that will require an evaluation of thousands of substances for potential risks to human health and/or the environment. Under this regulation much more data will become publicly available about the hazards of chemical substances. These will be used by industry scientists and regulators to identify and evaluate the risks of using chemicals throughout their life-cycle, either leading to pre- arket approval (Authorization) or to phase-out (Restriction). |
