Project Implementation
Once the front-end planning is complete, we develop a clear project strategy which dovetails with the business plan. This helps the project team quickly identify opportunities as well as obstacles. Although strategic issues may vary according to the type of project, key considerations for most industrial projects are:
Implementation Strategy
A choice has to be made between fast track and normal project
execution, in-house development or the use of external parties, and
selection of equipment and activities in the light of the cost,
quality and efficiency.
Contracting Strategy
The choice of the type of contract – e.g. fixed price versus cost
reimbursable – will be influenced by:
- market conditions
- the extent to which work is defined
- the risk allocation between owner and contractor
- the availability of owner resources and expertise on the project
- the need to accommodate fast-track design and construction, and
- intellectual property considerations.
Strategic Interfaces
We help define the roles and responsibilities of all
stakeholders, including the owner, joint venture partner,
contractor, and licensor. Where relevant, we identify interfaces
with existing facilities and other projects.
Project Management
As soon as all of these decisions have been made, we can
commission contractors to carry out the detailed engineering and
supervise their activities throughout the project to ensure
completion on schedule and within budget.
Health, Safety and Environmental Compliance
Our experts can ensure that all safety, health and environmental
aspects of the design and execution are taken into account and are
in compliance with the requirements of the appropriate regulatory
authorities.
End of life
Thanks to long experience of managing plant shutdowns and
demolitions, as well as negotiating within regulatory
authorities, we are able to minimize your liabilities (e.g. with
respect to soil remediation), while ensuring that all activities are
in full compliance with the relevant legislation.
