Toxicology & Ecotoxicology Testing and Consultancy
Our GLP-compliant lab is licensed to carry out the full range of OECD and EU environmental toxicity studies on aquatic and terrestrial organisms, as well as fate studies, including bioaccumulation. We provide analytical support, plus the physical chemical tests required by REACH.
Please take a look at our dedicatec REACH webpage.
We have carried out a great deal of applied research, adapting standard guidelines – which are typically developed for simple substances – to more complex, difficult-to-test compounds.
For example, under European and US legislation, all chemical manufacturers and importers are required to provide full safety data on their products. Our specialists can help you assess the risks related to production and use, both for existing products and for those under development.
One of our main strengths is an ability to integrate these studies. We have in-depth knowledge of many chemical classes and how they should be tested to comply with REACH. We can also advise on the most effective wastewater technology for your premises and carry out site-specific biodegradability studies using the latest techniques.
Our Biocides Group has the necessary laboratory facilities and expertise to support the development of more effective biocides and ensure that existing products comply with Biocide Product Directives.
We select and test the effectiveness of Disinfectants, Treated Articles (antimicrobial surfaces) and Preservatives against microbiological attack, including the use of hyperchlorites and plastic additives. We also carry out Water Treatment and Biofilm Investigations.
We have many years of experience in providing business solutions to customers, using the full spectrum of regulatory affairs and toxicology services. These range from hazard assessment at the R&D stage through toxicology evaluation of commercial products to assessing the risks of products and market applications.
Our experienced scientists have honed their skills on EU and US substance risk assessments, biocide registrations, product notifications -– at all tonnage bands – and many other assessment methodologies. We are in close contact with regulators around the world.
We use state-of-the-art techniques, for example gene sequencing, to determine whether the results of animal testing of our customers’ products are relevant to humans.
We also have extensive experience of supporting the high production volume (HPV) chemicals of our customers in both voluntary and mandatory programs. We have technically reviewed hundreds of test reports according to accepted scientific principles in order to ensure that the data presented is acceptable to government agencies.
